Terms of Use
Rules, guidelines, and user expectations for the tico platform.
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the tico website, community platforms, and online services. For rules regarding the proprietary tico software client itself, please refer to the tico License.
1. Purpose of the Platform
The tico website, including its documentation wiki and blog, is provided as an informational hub to support the tico project. It is an independent initiative created to provide a unified frontend experience for legally obtained, personal game backups.
2. Acceptable Use Policy
By accessing our website or participating in our community spaces (including GitHub and Discord), you agree to act responsibly and respectfully. You are strictly prohibited from using the tico platform to:
- •Request, share, or link to copyrighted ROMs, ISOs, or BIOS firmware files.
- •Promote software piracy or the illegal acquisition of digital content.
- •Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users or contributors.
- •Distribute malware, spam, or engage in scraping/DDoS attacks against tico infrastructure.
- •Impersonate project developers or official tico representatives.
Violating these rules will result in immediate and permanent bans from all tico-affiliated community platforms.
3. Third-Party Links & API Integrations
The tico website and application may interface with or link to third-party services (e.g., SteamGridDB for cover art, GitHub for issue tracking, Discord for community chats, or Ko-fi for donations).
- No Control: We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services.
- No Liability: You acknowledge and agree that tico shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with the use of such third-party services.
4. User-Generated Content
If you submit content to our GitHub repositories (such as bug reports, feature requests, or pull requests), you grant the tico project a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, modify, and distribute that content as part of the project.
You represent and warrant that any content you submit does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights or privacy of any third party.
5. Termination of Access
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to terminate or suspend your access to our website, wiki, or community platforms immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms of Use.
6. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms of Use at any time. If a revision is material, we will try to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
By continuing to access or use our platform after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
