DMCA Policy
Copyright infringement claims and takedown procedures for the tico platform.
1. No Hosted Content Policy
tico is strictly an informational website and a locally-executed frontend interface.
- We do not host, distribute, or link to any copyrighted video games, ROMs, ISO files, or firmware (BIOS).
- The images, artwork, and technical information on this site (such as on our documentation Wiki) are utilized strictly under the principles of Fair Use for educational, demonstration, and compatibility reporting purposes.
- When the tico application fetches cover art, it queries public, third-party databases (like SteamGridDB) directly from the user's local device. Content from these queries does not pass through, and is not stored on, any tico-controlled servers.
2. DMCA Takedown Notice Procedure
We respect the intellectual property rights of others. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), if you are a copyright owner or an agent thereof and believe that any content situated on tico.app or our associated GitHub repositories infringes upon your copyright, you may submit a notification.
Your notification must include the following information:
- •A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
- •Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
- •Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, and precisely where it is located on our website (must include exact URLs).
- •Information reasonably sufficient to permit us to contact you, such as an address, telephone number, and an e-mail address.
- •A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- •A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner.
3. Counter-Notice Procedure
If you believe your content or contribution was removed by mistake or misidentification (for example, if a submitted code pull request or Wiki edit was taken down), you may file a counter-notice. We will review the counter-notice and, if appropriate in our legal discretion, may restore the material in question.
4. Repeat Infringer Policy
In accordance with the DMCA and other applicable law, tico has adopted a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances and at our sole discretion, users, contributors, or community members who are deemed to be repeat infringers of intellectual property rights.
